Comments about Storm Tropical Black/Red Pearl:
looking for less hook than another Storm Purple and orange ball and this works well same weight. I bowl on rather dry lanes so I may put the ball in the cleaner to make the surface even shinier and smooth so I do not go brooklyn. The pin action is awesome on this ball. I am 64 years old and dropped to a 14lb ball with no change in performance. I am equipped for my senior years.

I picked this up for the alley I bowl at, since they seem to always be dry. I'm carrying between a 190-210 average on 3 leagues with it, so that part is good. Smooth reaction, nice back-end, and carries well. I seldom leave a ten pin with it. Unfortunately, it developed cracks around both finger holes after 2 years. I still ordered another one to replace it, since I can't complain about how well it works. Hopefully the next one will last longer.

Things that are great about it is having your own Bowling Ball and not spending extra money. I feel good about my bowling ball.

If you care about where the ball goes, this is the ball for you!
I started off with a black widow and was getting great pin action even when going brooklyn. I switched to the Tropical Storm because I hated the lack of control from the black widow.
I play on lanes that are medium to high on the oil side. The Tropical Storm provides enough hook to get good pin action but is also versatile enough to allow me to pick up those nasty 10 pins the first couple of games. By the 3rd game, I do tend to switch to a plastic ball if the lane starts getting really dry.
I gave it a 4/5 because it isn't a SUPER high pin action ball. I'd rather mark every frame than get strikes and splits though (as was the case of my black widow).
Overall, a great ball for beginner and seasonal league bowlers alike.

Comments about Storm Tropical Black/Red Pearl:
This is a good ball for learning how to hook, or for people who are beginning to hook. I upgraded to this ball from a plastic one, and I would recommend it. I've had this ball for almost a year now, and I love it. A good price for a great ball!
